Building on her facsimiles of the two Frick carpets, Bhasha carefully
reconstructs the fragments created during the re-trimming process of
these objects. After the carpets were elevated to the wall of the Frick
Collection, their trimmings, suddenly deemed culturally significant,
were distributed to major museum collections around the world.
Rendering
the recreations in vibrant oil and embroidery, Bhasha challenges our
understanding of cultural value, presenting the complicated history
through which status is assigned to non-Western objects.
