Threading Salon depicts the labor of beauty, showing figures in motion as they pluck and shape the eyebrows of their patrons. Through her signature brushwork and figurative style, Akireddy creates an exoticized, kinetic world inhabited by seemingly multi limbed beings. Yet alongside the force and action required to maintain beauty, Akireddy also finds a sense of intimacy and familiarity. In the sharp, precise act of grooming, Akireddy finds a deeper culture of care.
