Tuda Muda
Born in New Delhi and based in Trondheim, Norway, Tuda Muda’s charcoal on paper works explore and challenge how we understand beauty and bodily ideals. While exaggerating qualities conventionally seen as flaws, Tuda Muda depicts subjects characterized by confidence, self-compassion, and affection. Despite the ways that the figures depicted might flout conventional standards, Tuda Muda’s subjects redefine beauty through their irreverence to its expected forms.
Tuda Muda’s figures simultaneously draw from the personal and the mythological, creating a new, singular visual language characterized by self-regard, comfort, and resilient joy. Her use of charcoal evokes the primordial, finding a timeless sense of humanity in her distinct figures.
