KOMAIL AIJAZUDDIN'S "Queer Childhood" series examines the artist's early
memories of joy and wonder as child, conveying a unique visual language
of the past. Finding pleasure, subversion, and confidence in early
memories, the artist employs a deliberate aesthetics of blur that
suggest both the haziness of memory, as well as the digitally-inflected
sensation of remembering. Reflecting on his childhood in Lahore,
Aijazuddin's glimpses of the past are both affectionately nostalgic and
rooted in the visual styles of the present.
